The Role and Portrayal of Androgeny in Mass MediaWhat will it take to change to change gender roles in society? Androgeny in mass media may be a first step.
Representations of androgyny in fashion, advertisements, television and movie characters and other forms of mass media, if nothing else, increase visibility to the oppressive institution of gender roles, scripts and norms in our world.
